I'm walking 700 miles for Altadena!
Howdy friends and family, it’s Demi! It’s been a minute since I last sent an update, but this is a big one. I’m walking 700 miles to raise money for Altadena fire victims!
Specifically, I am raising money for the Eaton Fire Collaborative, which is a group of over 150 local nonprofits, community groups, and state officials united in their support for Altadena.
So what exactly does this sane journey consist of? Well, it starts on October 16th.
I chose this date to end before Thanksgiving and to trek in cool weather.
Most days I’ll be walking for about 6-8 hours. Each night I’ll stop in a town or city to resupply (and sleep on a bed). I have two different data plans for complementary coverage, a 300W power bank, many water canteens, and a hunger for adventure.
Despite its name, the Fire Walk is not so strict about walking: a few short car rides are planned. But for the most part you can expect sore muscles and blister-protection!

That’s a big blue line
The journey starts where my house used to be. And it ends in Paradise, a town that’s rebuilt from its own devastating fire. I’m eager to learn from Paradise and capstone this journey with hope. But there’s no strict deadline either — we’ll have plenty of time to rest if the trek proves too strenuous.
I’ll be posting regular updates on the GoFundMe page! Things like where I am, where I’m heading, and any fun stories along the way.
The #1 way you can help is by spreading the word. I’m hopeful this offbeat idea makes for fun conversation, the sort that naturally wants to be shared! And even a $5 or $10 pledge goes a long way towards our goals.
The money we raise helps cover costs, such as food and lodging, with the rest donated directly to EFC. We can’t do it without you!! If you have any leads for sponsorships, hotels, or media groups like radio stations or local papers, please let me know!

In the meantime… I’ll be walking : )
