Happy New Month From Us!

You’ve heard of “Happy New Year” but “Happy New Month” might just catch on…

Speaking for my family, we are thrilled to leave January behind and move forward to February, the month of 3 day weekends and my own birthday (Feb. 16th!)

For those who don’t know — Our home of 28 years burned to the ground.

This was the site of every Thanksgiving and Greek Easter (yes, it’s a thing) for family & friends alike. It helps to know that so many of you made memories with us there. I don’t know why, but it does.

January was the month of destruction and, having visited the ruins, the month of open wounds. I could say so much more. There are poignant memories, discarded plans, and the prodding grief of a lost collection, but alas — It is January no more.

It’s February. It’s time to rebuild.

We are officially living in Glendale! (And yes, that IS a cactus tree.)

Hotels breakfasts are fun and all, but it’s nice to have a space. A house is your foundation, both physical and emotional. You reminded us of this. We are so grateful to the loved ones who shared their furnishings, supplies, and good will. Sometimes we did not know how to react, but we knew you understood all the same.

My vision for these emails is to send them no more than twice a month. They say brevity is the soul of wit, and I bet there’s an equally catchy saying about “not spamming inboxes” just waiting to be coined.

One day I’ll talk more about that, but for now let’s just celebrate change, the kind that reminds you that great trees have deep roots.
